This is crazy. I’m living in a country that hasn’t fought a war for over a hundred years. So they say. Truth is that there are Swedish soldiers all over the world. Africa, Iraq and Afghanistan. Places like that.
American soldiers get killed due to negligence. Suicide here and an accident here. If this happened in a hospital or a normal workplace, somebody would be held accountable.

You know I’ve thought that too.. Does it mean that outside Sweden it’s somehow OK for Swedes to fight wars? If that’s so it’s very hypocritical, but you don’t hear anyone talking about it do you…? Or maybe you do, but I haven’t heard them – the thing about being held responsible is interesting too. Being a soldier seems to mean that you don’t have the same protection as a civilian when you’re not actually in a war zone and on a fighting mission. I don’t understand. None of it makes any sense to me either.

Hell’s teeth..
You can’t possible be as much of a cynic as me…?

It’s not cyncism. In a different political climate we sent medical units (Korea). Now we are sending trained teams off assasins. What the brits and yanks call special forces. Sweden has them to and the only reason is that sweden has to show that we are as ready to get our hands dirty. No more playing goody, goody. No one even pretends that Iran and Iraq is a UN operation.
